The Charleston area is teeming with an abundance of walking tours, drawing in over eight million tourists annually to explore the largest collection of colonial buildings in North America. 

Amidst the myriad of tour options, one might overlook the behind-the-scenes dynamics of the average tour company. With over 70 registered tour companies in Charleston and soaring demand for tours, the need for tour guides has been equally ambitious. A recent lawsuit brought about a change in the city's regulations, eliminating the requirement for tour guides to hold licenses. Unfortunately, this decision opened the floodgates for outside entities and individuals offering subpar tours. Recognizing this, tour companies started providing a platform for these less-experienced guides, resulting in low-quality tours offered by profit-driven companies with guides willing to work for minimal compensation.

Enter Blueberry Walking Tours, Charleston's first cooperative tour company operated by the guides themselves. Control over schedules, compensation, team makup, and product quality is directly in the hands of the guides.
