Blueberry Tour Co/Op’s history series Just Ask Eric, hosted by longtime Charleston guide Eric Wright, is where curiosity meets credible, story-rich local history.
Eric has been teaching Charleston’s history to visitors (and locals) for the past 30 years, turning cobblestone streets, churchyards, waterfronts, and back alleys into a living classroom. Along the way, his dedication to accuracy and context led him to serve as City Historian under Mayor Joe Riley, giving him a rare, behind-the-scenes perspective on how Charleston preserves its past while still wrestling with it.
Each episode of Just Ask Eric starts with a simple idea: the best history lessons begin with real questions. Eric takes the topics people actually wonder about—legends vs. facts, misunderstood events, neighborhood stories, lost buildings, famous names, everyday lives, and the moments that shaped Charleston’s culture—and breaks them down in a way that’s clear, engaging, and grounded in evidence.
Have a question about Charleston history you’ve always wanted answered? Send it in. Whether it’s something you heard on a tour, a family story, a rumor you’re not sure is true, or a deep dive you’ve been itching to explore, Eric will tackle it in a future episode. Because in Charleston, the past is everywhere—and sometimes all you have to do is just ask Eric.
